Colour consultations

Hey there! First of all we are so excited that you have chosen to visit Alchemy for a colour service, we can't wait to make your hair dreams come true! Please read below for some general information and frequently asked questions regarding consultations.


Why do I need to book a consultation appointment before booking in my colour?

 Don't stress, it's a very common question. We understand that coming to see us for a consult first may be an inconvenience for some but that short 15 minute appointment allows us to give you the best service and experience possible and it is a very important (almost the most important) part of providing you with the highest quality service.

What should I expect at my colour consultation appointment?

During this appointment you will sit down one-on-one with your stylist and discuss everything regarding your hair - this includes hair colour history, current products being used on your hair, what you like/dislike about your hair, what you are wanting to achieve with your colour service plus way more. We will also analyse your hair type, texture, condition etc. Once we have made a plan with you on how we will achieve your desired look we will then print you up a quote, book you an appointment and take a $50 deposit.

Why do I have to pay a deposit for my appointment?

We take a $50 deposit to secure your appointment and ensure you are going to attend. Unfortunately there are times where bookings are made and no one shows up and this costs the business dramatically. With such a high demand for appointments we cannot afford for this to happen and in turn require a deposit to secure any colour appointments for new clients. Deposits can be paid via cash or eftpos and are non refundable if you do not show up to your appointment or reschedule/cancel with 24 hours notice

or less.

What happens to my deposit if I have to reschedule?

If you reschedule or cancel your appointment with less than 24hrs notice then your deposit is not refundable. When appointments are cancelled so last minute it makes it very difficult for us to fill this space and therefore are at a loss financially.


If however you give us plenty of notice you can change your appointment to another day and transfer the deposit across. We only allow one rescheduling, after the second time your deposit will no longer be transferable and you will be required to pay a minimum of 50% of your appointment value upfront, non refundable under any circumstance.

What if I arrive late to my consult appointment?

Our consultation appointments are anywhere from 15-30 minutes long and we need all of this time to cover all areas of the service. If you arrive late we may need to reschedule your appointment to another time. We suggest you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment time.

Do I need to bring anything to my consultation appointment?

Yes! We would love for you to come with a general idea of what you are wanting to do with your hair, we can assist you and guide you in the right direction but it is important that you have some idea in mind. We would also love for you to bring us some reference photos of your dream hair!

Why is my preferred stylist not available for a colour consultation appointment?

Not all of our Alchemist are taking new clients, if you would like to see a particular stylist you can enquire and you might get lucky but be prepared that we may not be able to fulfil this request. We suggest you have another Alchemist in mind that you would be comfortable to see.

Wait Time & Appointment Guarentee

Please note that we are usually booked up roughly 4-6 weeks in advance so be sure to book your consultation accordingly if you want your colour done within a particular time frame. Depending on your desired result with your hair we may need to book you in for a larger appointment and this may require a longer wait time.
